How You Rate Our Care

You tell us if we're maintaining our high quality

At Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN), one way we measure the quality of care is by asking you if you'd recommend our care to friends or family members.

After you receive care, you'll receive a patient satisfaction survey asking you to rank our care on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) in several areas. The surveys are submitted to Press Ganey, a leading health care information service, for analysis.

We publish our patient satisfaction scores four times each year, and compare those results to the scores of similar-sized hospitals to determine how well we're doing.

For 2005, our scores are:

  • For outpatient care (for example, emergency room visits) at LVHHN, our average score is 92.3 (a perfect grade is 100). This places us among the top 30 percent of hospitals our size.
  • For inpatient care (at least an overnight stay) at LVH--Cedar Crest and LVH--17th and Chew, our average score is 90.5. This places us among the top 10 percent of hospitals our size.
  • For inpatient care at LVH--Muhlenberg, our average score is 88.8. This means we're in the top half of hospitals our size.

We believe there is always room for improvement. That's why we set patient satisfaction goals higher each year as we strive to deliver the highest quality care for everyone in our community.
